Other celebrity beauty weapons:
Cort-shots: These cortisone injections are given to calm angry, inflamed zits in 24-48 hours. They can help smooth the way for a clearer appearance for the time-strapped celeb. “We sometimes get ladies who need to be in front of the camera in a day but experience an untimely outbreak. These intralesional injections can take the redness and swelling out of pimples in a day, we sometimes follow it up with a infra-red LED Red light therapy to give the skin a glow and speed healing” says Dr Toby Hui, an aesthetic doctor from The Sloane Clinic.
Baby Drop Fillers: A special ‘Gucci’ needle and baby drops of filler can smooth wrinkles even on the day of an event. This ultra tiny needle delivers minute amount of natural hyaluronic acid to give an extra pick-me-up. Popular areas include: Cupid’s bow of the lips (the middle portion of the top lip) to give an instant sensual pout effect; cheeks to highlight cheekbones instantly; even hands to smooth out crepey skin. “Sometimes minute amounts of fillers can rejuvenate the face instantly, especially for celebrities who are already looking fabulous, less is more” says Dr Low Chai Ling, medical director of The Sloane Clinic.
Vampire facial: This is all the rage in USA and Europe. Nicknamed the ‘Vampire Filler’, doctors are using patients’ own blood to create a natural alternative to cosmetic fillers such as Botox and Restylane. Practitioners say it is a formula for everlasting youth. Blood extracted from the patient is put into a centrifuge to separate red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The PRP is then used in the same way as a cosmetic filler, and is injected into the patient’s face to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. ‘We call it the vampire filler, because we use your own blood,’ explained Dr Gallo, who works with the Miami Institute of Age Management and Intervention.
