If you have always wanted to jump on board the miniskirts and micro shorts trend or just be comfortable lounging in a bikini on the beach, remember, exposing your gams would be no sweat when you have zero fuzzy areas, buttery soft skin and the illusion of mile-long length.
We speak to a few experts on tips to getting a pair of sleek and sexy legs that you would be proud to bare.
No More Fuzz
When you manage to get that perfect LBD (little black dress), don’t let hairy legs ruin the whole outfit. There are various hair removal methods ranging from shaving, epilating and waxing, but the downside is that they have to be repeated for eternity as hair regrows in a few weeks, not to mention the problems of stubble, ingrown hairs and skin darkening from constant trauma of the skin.
For a more permanent solution, you might want to consider laser hair removal. The light energy damages the hair follicle, halting growth to leave you with smooth silky legs you have always dreamt of without the repeated trauma and irritation from constant shaving and epilation.
Be warned though there are many hair removal devices ranging from IPL to lasers. “It is important to choose the correct laser especially for darker skin type individuals, who benefit more from a laser intended for dark skin types such as the Gentle Yag Laser as complications are minimized.” explains Dr Chua Han Boon from The Sloane Clinic.
No More Dimpling
Some dimpled thighs can be adorable. But you probably don’t find yourself cooing over your own. Cellulite is a condition that affects almost 90% of women and 10% of men. As we age, the collagen that supports the skin breaks down and the areas that were once taut (think knees and buttocks) start to sag. Collagen loss also makes cellulite more apparent as the thinned skin is less able to conceal the puckers created by the superficial fat and connective tissue below its surface.
You may already have some anti-cellulite creams on your vanity table. Common ingredients in these products include caffeine that helps improve blood flow to the skin and works like a diuretic to flush the moisture from the skin for a temporary firming effect. A more important ingredient to look out for is Retin-A which increases collagen production to make the skin over the cellulite thicker to hide the dimpling fat. However, topical products will require some time to take effect.

Do you get embarassed about your inner thigh jiggle? Especially when everyone else on the street seems to be rocking the shorts and miniskirts trend?
The problem is your adductors, those often neglected inner thigh muscles, and the presence of inner thigh fat. “To tone up those muscles, you can do exercises like the inner thigh squeeze with an exercise ball, side and cross over lunges, and squat lifts.” adds Samuel, a free-lance gym instructor.
Apart from exercise, a low calorie and low fat diet, to really target the inner thigh fat, you may also want to consider Zeltiq Coolsculpting, which is a non-invasive FDA-cleared body shaping treatment that effectively reduces fat in areas of the body.
